Health and Safety
ZIT – Zero Injury Tolerance – risk your life for no task, except another life is at risk.
We define injury as any form of sudden or incessant personal discomfort/pain inside and/or out side of the human body. The degree may vary, depending on the severity of the impact caused by the incident; identified key areas for possible injury during performance of assigned tasks are:
- Mental injuries
- Emotional injuries
- Internal injuries
- External injuries
The wellbeing of our people is our top priority, that is what gives us the confidence for business sustenance and growth. Management of EMROW Contractors LLC view health and safety issues with all seriousness. Thus investing in every necessary resource to ensure we have achieved near 100% ZIT rating at every review and evaluation cycle. We provide ergonomic workspace for our employees’ diverse work settings. We try to identify indicators of risk at early stages and eliminate them before progression.
Occupational health & safety is a collective responsibility, collectively as one corporate entity, we put in place policies, procedures and measures that foster incident free business operations on daily basis. Individually, as men and women on the work; it is mandatory on us to adhere to all provisions available to mitigate any work related incidents as much as possible.
Based on observations and occurrences, management of EMROW has developed two main policies and procedures to serve as precautionary measures to mitigate any work related incidence. These policies and procedures seek guide our behaviours towards everything we do; The policy titles are ZIA & WEB100
ZIA – Zero-Injury-Actions
This is a policy document that offers comprehensive guide for actions to consider before any work procedure. The policy employs the five known senses; sight, sound, taste, smell and touch.
- Sight: for visually balanced persons, a pre-visual inspection of tools and machinery as well as the workspace before any task is tackled and continuous observation all through the work process are mandatory.
- Sound: for hearing paired persons, continuous listening to environmental sound changes; including machinery operating sound, animals, water-flows and dropping objects.
- Taste: for all persons, ensure to taste all things that go through your mouth, in very small quantity first, before increasing the volume.
- Smell: for all persons, pay critical attention to the environmental scents, identify intrusive scents and investigate, the source and the cause.
- Touch: for all persons, be alert at all times, whatever you are touching. Follow recommended PPE procedures.
WEBE100 – Wellbeing 100
Wellbeing 100 is our corporate health policy incentive, to ensure our staff members are top fit at all times, WEBE100 is developed to support a mandatory routine health checks. Depending on the individual work roles, routine health checks schedules are within; 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. We provide continuous health and safety education through forums, internal games and social events. We promote short interval work breaks for stretch-outs and walkabouts. Healthy eating habit is advised and supported. Continuous health promotion is our preventive measure.
As technical service company, we have a very stringent PPE adherence policy without compromises. A violation of PPE policy at any stage activates disciplinary controls. So to encourage our staff members to be proactive on their own health and safety issues.
